A cold snap this weekend will drop temperatures considerably across both islands

A trough originating from the polar vortex is likely to produce Wintery weather from Friday and across the weekend.

Expect strong cold SW winds, heavy showers with embedded hail and breaks of sunshine. Keep the winter gear handy, especially on Saturday.
